Prince Amrbose Guides the Nation to Theocratic Governance Following the Departure of Adelie I

Prince Ambrose I has overseen the development of the nation towards theocracy following the departure of Adelie I. Current diplomatic ties and cultural development shall be continued following the completion of the work of the Emergency Council of the Reformation of the Nation.

Since the sudden departure of Adelie from the Imperial Government in April of 2024, the Imperial Government has seen a flurry of proposals and debates regarding the future of the nation due to the diarchial nature of the Imperial Government. Ambrose Dearmad oversaw the formation of the Emergency Council of the Reformation of the Nation to answer these questions and other concerns that had arisen from government members.

The work of the council included a review of territorial holdings within the nation, with many Southern Hemisphere territories given up due to their ties to Adelie and her interests in penguins and Antarctica studies. Other territories were added across the Canadian Maritimes, with the Villages of Strathrick and Nouvelle Evangeline being formed in the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.  These territorial changes were considered vital to the professionalism of the nation moving forward as it centralized the territories around the Imperial Capital, Port Elizabury.

Further changes overseen by the Emergency Council include the revitalization of the Imperial Marine, forming it into a single branch armed forces with various specialized units such as the National Constabulary. Sporting within the nation was also formed with the Gulf Sporting League reviving the national team format with the Auguric Republic and North Sea Empire teams forming the Northern League with football and hockey being used for team games.

Perhaps the largest change to the nation overseen by the Emergency Council would be the updating of the Basic Laws, which included making the nation a unicameral legislative and unitary state-based model. With these changes came proposals for a theocratic government, a first for the Chausalantique Community, but not the first proposed by Dearmad. Proposals by Dearmad for a theocratic government have been floating in and around the Chausalantique Community since the Summer of 2022.

Following internal debates, the theocratic governance was confirmed with an open-minded model with nine members of the Sovereign Council of Ste. Croix is made up of various religious backgrounds. Three seats are for the Auguraculum Acadia, three seats for non-religious communities in the nation, and three seats for other religious communities within the nation. As of writing the three non-religious seats are empty and the three other religious community seats have been filled with a member from the Norse Pagan Tradition, Catholic Church, and Church of Aspen. As well as one seat from the Auguraculum Acadia being filled, this has resulted in a balance between Christian and Pagan communities within the nation, being seen as a unity government.

Another change seen within the Sovereign Council is the abolishment of political parties within the nation as the seats have become defined by religious communities, with the mixture of religion and political parties being seen as highly controversial within the Emergency Council. Elections however have been confirmed to continue if a need arises for seats to be filled with more citizens interested in seats than those allotted.

These changes have also inspired changes within various members of the Elizaburian Cultural Commission and in the Chausalantique Community as a whole. The revitalization of the Commission during the May Conference oversaw the restructuring of various institutions including the Tjekopinan Educational Council and the membership of the commission as a whole. The Auguric Republic has been recognized as two members of the commission, The Voiqila based in the United States, and Isturus, based in Canada and Mexico.

Other changes inspired by the Emergency Council’s work include the High Kingdom of Cypsopina of the North Sea Empire announcing the 7th Ile de la Adirim shall be convened to review its own territorial and governance institutions and communities. The High Kingdom of Cypsopina was also established as a diarchial system under Dearnad and Adelie, with permission from the North Sea government, Cypsopina is expected to announce its changes and updates by July 2024.

These changes sweeping across the Auguric Republic have not come without comment or concern from outside observers. Officials from Atlia and Obscirum expressed concern about the work of the Emergency Council, including the possible change in national symbolism and general governance of the nation. The Emergency Council confirmed it would retain the general symbolism of the nation, including the two-headed pelican, as well as retaining a simplified parliamentary system within the nation.

Officials from Aspen and the North Sea Empire have also expressed concerns to Dearnad during the working days of the Emergency Council. Dearnad held talks with officials from Aspen and the North Sea to ensure stability during the proposed changes, which has resulted in officials from both nations expressing positive reinforcement to the Auguric Republic as it completes its reforms before establishment day on the 24th of May 2024.

Dearnad is quoted as saying during talks with government officials;

I am excited about the future of the nation and look forward to overseeing various plans and changes to diplomatic and domestic policies that were considered and debated before the changes overseen by the Emergency Council. Our work has just begun and our work will not end until our community is satisfied. Thank you for the dedication, support, and appreciation that all allies and other micronational institutions have given us during these difficult times of change and progress.

The Auguric Republic has confirmed its commitment to the 2024 Chausalantique Games and planning of future events between its allies and the retention of the Year of the Dragon events as defined back in January 2024 alongside Atlia, Obscurium, and Hershwell.
